These were the celestial bodies, who appeared to behave independently of the rest of the heavens, rising and falling in their own rhythms.
(Additionally each of the five planets are associated with one of the five elements.) This was made up of the five planets visible to the naked eye (Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn) along with the moon and sun. Ancient astrology there was rooted in the existence and observation of seven “stars” - 七曜, the Seven Days, or Seven Luminaries. Seven stars is an unusual configuration but not unheard of* - especially in Japan. However, Michael’s eyes would have no place on the Sorcerer’s Society crest, the “three magi” is extremely vague, and while a star for each virtue fits, symbology can help us out a little more… The characters also speculate that the three stars above the constellation are Michael’s eyes or a representative of angels, demons, and humans with the latter being MC. This is the same configuration mentioned later in season three, in reference to a constellation in the Celestial Realm known as the Seven Brothers - which of course maps perfectly to the demon brothers themselves. Solomon tells MC that the three staves represent the Three Magi, who are said to have “invented the magical arts” and that the seven stars represent the “seven virtues that a sorcerer must never forget”. The receptionist of the Sorcerer’s Society places a magical seal upon the back of MC’s hand, which Lucifer recognises. (This is despite the fact that with only Solomon’s borrowed power and words, MC was able to easily summon Asmo early in season one ?)
This follows on from the preparation at the end of season two for MC to learn how to summon their demons, a task that seemingly requires magic to be performed.
~ obey me spoilers obey me season 4 leave mammon alone obey me obey me shall we date obey me fandom obey me mammon mammonĮarly in season three it was revealed that one of the goals of this season was for MC to obtain a sorcerer’s license from the Sorcerer’s Society under the tutoring of Solomon. Mammon, who canonically states it is important to him that his relationship with MC is one of two equals, now talks like Christian Grey for unknown reasons.īeel, the ONLY brother who never went out of his way to insult Mammon… goes out of his way to insult Mammon. Mammon berates himself and nobody, including MC, disagrees. Not only does the cast still hate on Mammon, but now the player has to agree to MC joining in.ĭiavolo and Barbatos add to the Mammon hate. MC is given a choice of two insults for Mammon. Here’s my breakdown of the lessons thus far… OM is still cranking out events that have zero romance, nightmares that only whales can win, devilgrams where everyone is OOC, and now a season that not only contains no semblance of story or characterisations, but purposefully contradicts much of what has gone before. How many have already switched to just playing Twisted Wonderland? A game with far slower seasons and much more plot? Trust me, it ain’t subtle.Įven if that happens to be actual plot (ie he has been demoted from being an angel entirely versus, oh noes he has a curse you must solve by doing more trials), it’s not worth it. And yeah, I get it, Simeon has lost his powers. Quite frankly, it absolutely is not worth it. It’s marvellous that the one female character we actually get to see has been written to seem like she has no braincells and hates MC in a stereotypically catty fashion.Īnd above all, its fantastic that all of them, new and old, INCLUDING MC, target hate and abuse at Mammon, the one character who has never put MC in danger, who has never tried to use magic or charms on MC, and who is at the same time is still shown as being a big brother to the smallest angel, protector of humans and demons too.
It’s wonderful that Raphael, the angel who depressed Beel, who harassed the brothers, who was all for Lilith’s death, is welcomed by Lucifer, the brother he stabbed in the back. It’s great that Diavolo has been shoved back in the annoying antagonist role. It’s nice to know that everything MC has been through for these characters is worthless. The peril, for there must always be peril they have remembered, is that if MC fails not only do they not get on the council, they get ejected from the Devildom forever. Trials that look a lot like fresher games for the bored and sober. MC, a person seen as family by the Avatar Lords and a friend of Diavolo and co, is to be placed on the student council. Sometimes what looks like nothing turns out to have been scattered clues to Something.īut folks, we’re near the halfway point now and… there just isn’t any plot. Lack of plot is something I’m usually willing to give the benefit of the doubt.
I had planned to do breakdown posts on season 4 as it progressed but it soon became apparent that this new season had two major problems:
